At this exclusive wildlife preserve you will have the opportunity to get up close to the kinds of animals most folks only see on National Geographic programs. You’ll start the 3-hour adventure with a walking tour that brings you face to face with exotic birds, monkeys, lemurs, giant porcupines, cheetahs and even some blue duikers – tiny dog-sized, impala-like creatures!
Then, just like a real African safari, you’ll board double deck safari trucks for a ride through the rugged 400-acre preserve to see herds of impala, African cattle, buffalo, two kinds of giraffes, a pair of rhinos, two kinds of zebras, mischievous ostriches, and some pretty intense Cape buffalo. The tour guides are entertaining and knowledgeable, making the tour fun and educational for the whole family.
Love nature photography? Safari West is a five star sight for taking pictures. The opportunities are endless from taking action shots of cheetahs in their wild landscape or close–up shots of flamingos. The guides offer helpful suggestions for timing your shots and you can sign up for special photography tours and workshops. On these tours, you can rent a lens if you need or would like to try a specific lens for a certain type of shot.
If you’re very brave, Safari West offers overnight accommodations in guest cottages and luxury tents from Africa with canvas walls and polished wood floors. Each tent has its own private washroom with hot showers, plush beds and hand made furniture from Africa. Relax with dinner, wine, chocolate and even a massage, then listen to the sounds of the wild animals through the night.
Day tours start at $70 for adults and $32 for children. Overnight stays start at $260 for tents and $350 for the cottage.
